GUYS WE'VE BEEN LIED TO!!! IT'S NOT A DEALERSHIP!! THIS ROAD DEADENDS AT FORD-MPG!!! WE'RE COOKED!!!

MPG-Ford's Little Secret

There is one organization whose main goal is to distroy your beloved Lincoln. That organization is the Ford Motor Company. If Ford didn't spend countless hours of testing before your Lincoln was built, your Lincoln probably wouldn't have lasted a year. Somebody had to run that car over rough terrain, water tests, hill climbs, high speed and endurance runs.

Think you've seen the Ford Michigan Proving Ground (MPG)? You know, that track behind that meandering tall brick wall accoss from Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Stand in the right spot, and you can see some cars in action within those walls. Maybe during the 2003 Ford 100th Anniversary you took the Volvo stability ride and got to actually drive on part of that track. Then there are all those pictures that have been published of that place. Guess what? That's the Dearborn Development Center. You've got the wrong place. Wrong town, wrong county, but Ford-MPG is in the great state of Michigan.

On Friday July 29th, 2011, the LCOC Mid-America Meet will have the rare opprotunity to tour Ford-MPG. You will be able to see first hand what Ford does to vehicles, so that they last for you. The tour will include a walk through of a couple of the garages and test bays, where you'll probably see a few vehicles clad in that famous camouflage. Maybe the camouflaged prototype Lincoln limo will still be there. You'll have to keep what you see in your head, as photography of any kind is strictly prohibited on this tour. After the garages, it's out to tour the various tracks. If conditions and scheduling can mess together, you'll see some vehicle demonstrations performed by one of our own LCOC-MI members. We'll try to give you a small sense of what some of the track surfaces feel like. The history of Ford-MPG alone is quite interesting. If you talk to someone who works there, you quickly discover that they love their job. At some point in this tour, you will be shaking your head in disbelief, that a Lincoln like yours got treated like this.

You'll still have plenty of time for your mechanical judging, or to prep your car, back at the Marriott. Seating on this event has been limited to 45 individuals. Make sure you get your registration in today, so you have a better chance to save your spot on the coach.

MPG doesn't only mean miles per gallon!

Note: This tour excludes you from the Friday Driving Tour.
